KIA Stonic 2025 Overview
The KIA Stonic 2025 is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by the South Korean automaker KIA Motors. Initially launched in South Korea in 2017, the model received a facelift in October 2020. Despite being discontinued in South Korea due to low demand, the updated version made its way to Pakistan on November 8, 2021.
The name “Stonic” is a blend of “Speedy” and “Tonic,” symbolizing energy and dynamism. Positioned as the smallest crossover in KIA’s lineup, the Stonic sits two tiers below the Sportage. Marketed as a compact car designed for big adventures, it is well-suited for both city commutes and long-distance travel.
In Pakistan, the KIA Stonic is locally assembled by KIA Lucky Motors. The Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units are now ready for shipment to dealerships, ensuring easier availability of spare parts and maintenance services.
KIA Stonic Exterior
The 2025 KIA Stonic boasts a sleek yet bold design, setting it apart from competitors. Key features include KIA’s signature tiger-nose grille and muscular bumpers. The Stonic EX features a matte black grille, while the EX+ variant comes with a piano black grille. Both variants include LED daytime running lights, though front and rear fog lights are standard bulb types.
The exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable, retractable, and heated in both variants, with the EX+ adding a rearview mirror. The EX model is equipped with bi-function halogen projection headlamps with static bending light, while the EX+ upgrades to LED projection headlamps. The rear design is equally striking, featuring three-dimensional combination lamps, a steep rear window, and a spoiler with a high-mounted brake light. The EX+ variant also includes a sunroof, a feature absent in the EX.
Aerodynamic elements enhance stability at high speeds by directing airflow toward the engine and wheel wells. The EX rides on 15-inch alloy rims, while the EX+ comes with 16-inch alloy rims.
KIA Stonic Interior
The interior of the KIA Stonic 2025 is designed for comfort and functionality. While the car is advertised as a 5-seater, it is more practical for 4 passengers. Both variants feature adjustable headrests and six airbags for safety. The rear seats offer a 40:60 split-fold option to expand storage space.
The D-shaped steering wheel, exclusive to the EX+, enhances driver comfort and legroom. It includes controls for audio calls, voice recognition, and software adjustments. The EX+ also features an electrochromic rearview mirror and a sunglasses case in the front overhead console lamp. Both variants come with an 8-inch floating infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. The system allows multi-connection for two devices simultaneously—one for hands-free calls and media, and the other for media only.
Additional features include six powerful speakers, two charging ports (one for front and one for rear passengers), and manual handbrakes. The EX+ variant adds cruise control, manual speed assist, push-button start/stop, and forward/reverse parking sensors. Both models are equipped with Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Start Assist, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and single-zone climate control for a comfortable and secure driving experience.
KIA Stonic Engine
Both the EX and EX+ variants are powered by a 1.4L petrol engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 99 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 133 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, ensuring optimal performance for this front-wheel-drive vehicle.
KIA Stonic Mileage
The KIA Stonic offers a fuel efficiency of 12 km/l in the city and 16 km/l on the highway, making it an economical choice for daily commutes and long drives.
KIA Stonic Ride & Handling
The 2025 KIA Stonic delivers a smooth and balanced ride, thanks to its traction control system and electronic brake distribution (EBD). The car remains stable during turns and handles bumps with ease. While the steering lacks the front-end grip of some competitors, it is well-weighted, ensuring lane stability on highways. Both variants include a tire pressure monitoring system and a stability control system for added safety and comfort.
Stonic Maintenance
With local assembly in Pakistan, the KIA Stonic benefits from readily available spare parts and easier access to servicing, making maintenance convenient for owners.
Stonic Competitors
In the Pakistani market, the KIA Stonic 2025 faces stiff competition from the Honda BR-V and MG ZS.
The Honda BR-V, with its 1.5L i-VTEC engine and 7-seater capacity, offers better torque and higher ground clearance, making it a strong contender. Meanwhile, the MG ZS, equipped with a 1.5L NSE engine, boasts a more powerful engine and a range of advanced features, positioning itself as Pakistan’s most affordable SUV. Both competitors challenge the Stonic’s 1.4L MPI engine and its positioning in the market.
Despite the competition, the KIA Stonic 2025 stands out with its stylish design, modern features, and balanced performance, making it a compelling choice for urban and adventurous drivers alike.
